Mikumi National Park
Mikumi National Park is situated above the vast Selous Game Reserve and is one of Tanzania most popular national parks. From the mountains that enclose two of its borders to the vast Mikumi flood plain, visitors are guaranteed breath taking landscapes and exhilarated encounters with the parks many resident animals.
During the rainy season the parks diversity of birdlife shoots up to beyond 300 species as many European birds migrate to the parks abundant miombo woodlands and wetlands. Huge herds of buffalo roam and can be viewed from panoramic observation posts located throughout the park and lions prowl the dense woodland, fastidiously avoiding the swamp like areas of the flood plain.
