Known fondly as ‘The Kili’, this hotel is a popular landmark in the city, a reminder of the region’s elegant colonial heritage and a favoured meeting place of discerning locals as well as visitors in town. The hotel was totally rebuilt to open as a Kempinski in August 2005.

Located in Dar Es Salaam, the commercial centre of Tanzania, on the shores of the Indian Ocean and a perfect starting point for those embarking upon the famous safari trails in the region. After breakfast you will be met and transferred to Dar airport for your scheduled flight to Selous departing 0900hrs for Mtemere airstrip in Selous arriving at 0945hrs.

Upon arrival you will be met by the camp’s representative and transferred to the camp having game drive en route. Arrive in time for lunch at the camp.

Late afternoon proceed with game viewing.

Impala’s 8 tents are set amidst the Borassa Palms and Tamarind trees which make up the riparian forest along the banks of the mighty Rufiji River, and each gives superb views out across the river in order to watch the world and wildlife go past. Well furnished with en-suite facilities, each tent is built on platforms (some taller than others!), and equipped with luxurious furniture, shower, WC, dressing area and spacious veranda. The large meandering Rufiji River, with its network of channels, connecting lakes and swamps, offers visitors the unique opportunity to go on safari by boat and experience the spectacular concentration of wildlife from a unusual perspective. Another activity that is hugely popular is to also go out into the bush on foot to experience safari, not as a spectator, but as part of the wildlife itself! The camp has skilled and knowledgeable guides who lead the game drives, boat trips, walking excursions and fly camping. (another activity that proves to be very popular which involves walking and camping out in the bush for the night…if you are brave enough!!)

After breakfast proceed with game viewing, followed by lunch at the camp. Afternoon you will be met and transferred to Mtemere airstrip for a scheduled flight departing for Mafia via Dar. On arrival in Mafia island you will be and transferred Pole Pole bungalows for dinner and overnight. Seven bungalow suites, perfectly blended with the surrounding tropical garden, overlook the infinite hues of blue of Chole Bay, the core of Mafia Island Marine Park.
